What is Hussain Day?

Every year, many students around the world who are lovers of Imam Hussain (AS), hold an event on the day of Ashura called “Hussain Day”. Hussain – the grandson of prophet Muhammad – was a 7th century revolutionary leader who made the ultimate sacrifice for social justice in the face of corruption. On the 10th of October 680 AD (Ashura) at the battle of Karbala, Hussain, his family, and his 72 companions gave their lives defending the universal principles of humanity, justice, and faith.
